Today at work when the internet was down and chaos ensued, I got to finish Love + Sex With Robots (David Levy). It made sense. What people essentially look for a partner who can't hurt them, who is kind and devoted and a good listener: a cyborg. What really made it "click" for me that love with robots is man's future was when Levy discussed how airline pilots used to shake everyone's hands before every flight. Today, we're horrified if the plane isn't on autopilot. Do you see?
Also, there used to be steam-powered vibrators that were deemed inefficient because the user would have to have an assistant to shovel coal into its furnace - wow!
