1. NOT "The Mole People" by Jennifer Toth, that book is a hoax and the fact that it's still in print makes me crazy
2. "Kaaterskill Falls" by Allegra Goodman -- okay, this is a novel, but a very educational one

5. Haven't read it myself, but this has been on my Amazon wishlist forever: http://www.amazon.com/Secret-Life-Houdini-Americas-Superhero/dp/0743272072/ref=wl_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=I1UGUVRSD9R4TQ&colid=2JKZM39FJMA52

And, special bonus recommended nonfiction book: http://www.amazon.com/Other-Powers-Suffrage-Spiritualism-Scandalous/dp/0060953322/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1264397036&sr=1-1
