Recent things that make me happy, material and immaterial:
1. My mother's visit
2. The smell of lotion on my lower arms
3. A giant crush on the coffee man on 53rd and 7th, and his 75 cent coffee
4. Our new spice rack
5. Opposite shoe purchases: Melissa rubbery high heels, and suede Toms (both black)
6. Greenpoint, as always
7. The end to the am-I-or-aren't-I-registered-to-vote-crisis: New York voters, you can use this website to check
Makes me unhappy:
1. My mother's departure
2. Creative mental block
3. So many movies to see and no time to see them
4. The spice rack fell down

Ugh, I have hideous wide feet. My current plan of action is to keep my toenails painted all the time and to maybe exfoliate them or something to get rid of the gucky scarring. Zan just bought me these in silver and my feet have gotta look good:

I got an old-school iPod Nano on eBay when my iPod broke and it holds very little music. I can't fit any dance playlists or "extensive discography." Don't be cheap like me, five loyal blog readers: splurge on the "big" iPod.
Also holy crap I can't believe how badly I want to see the BAM Sundance Institute documentaries, namely Anvil! and ALIVE. (Both one word "A" titles but with zest.) This summer will have many wonderful events, like Central Park Summerstage's Battles and Black Dice show, and most free-stuff-schedules haven't even gone up yet! Summer! Summer! After I graduate, let the watermelon and corn and coconut ice eating begin.

Recently smitten by:
1. The commercial for MacBook Air.
2. Music; excited about new bands for the first time in a long time: The Rezillos, Times New Viking, Dolly Mixture [also, not new, but Sleater-Kinney, and Prince's original "When U Were Mine" is my favorite song in the whole world]

3. I really like my classes this semester!
4. Checking the internet for my friends' reactions to Heath Ledger dying. Also, John Travolta's reaction.
4.5: My mom's chicken chili recipe and the feeling of pride that comes with knowing you can cook something delicious your parents made on your own.
5. Ebay. This is dangerous. I want Fresh's Sake perfume and a wood Nixon watch but I keep getting outbid and it's bugging me out. However, I won a pair of flats and I still have two auctions in progress and even though they end in more than three days I'm so nervous about it my stomach hurts. Shouldn't I have gotten Ebay out of my system three years ago when everyone else did? I'm not good at it! This is dangerous.

The Five Best Things I've Bought Recently
1. Hat
I am officially a proud hat owner. One of "those people" who has buys a quirky hat and wears it out until its status goes from cool to mundane. But!: it keeps my head warm and I have never owned a great hat before because my head is too big, and my friends all approve. Here it is on its fancy website, nobis.ca:

2. Our Dumb World
I technically didn't buy this because I'm a V.I.P., but the Africa section is so good!

3. Mexican Hot Chocolate
Normal hot chocolate with chili powder dumped into it - although surely it can't be that simple, because I've never seen anyone make it at home by combining it with Swiss Mix. At the coffee place I get it at, the barista makes hearts and smiley faces in the foam, making it all the better.

4. Tarte Flush Stick
As I am about to graduate college, it seems more important that I become a proper woman and enter society. (Go to masked balls and do the dance where you press your hand up against the guy's hand and walk in a circle looking bored, learn to use a salad fork.) Thus, I should wear makeup. At a trip to Sephora this seemed like the most accessible thing, and it really is. It "stains" your cheeks in this natural but pretty way and is easier to apply than eyeliner.

5. Membership To Hollywood Express
Times are bittersweet as Kims is closing. Starting a membership at Hollywood Express (right next door to said source of Mexican hot chocolate) made me feel a little better. It's hard for me not to eagerly brag to them about how much better my video store is when I'm checking out, and let's face it: our employee picks were way better. But they have pretty good specials and didn't give me a hard time for asking them where the musicals section was.
Worst Recent Purchase
Trader Joe's Lemon Dill sauce made me puke, literally. It was over-dilled and the taste dominated the pasta rather than complimented it. It sat weirdly in my stomach for about thirty minutes before coming up, at which point Trader Joe's taught me an important lesson about following a brand blindly.
Gotta Wait
A new pair of glasses (Christmas), The Piano Teacher by Elfriede Jelinek (until I study for my German test and have time to read it), Kenny vs. Spenny Season 3 (on DVD in Canada on Tuesday), premiere of American Kenny vs. Spenny (Wednesday, but seriously, I am actually kind of upset about Comedy Central's impending ruin of this show).
